Welcome to CRASA
WHO ARE WE
The Communication Regulators’ Association of Southern Africa (CRASA) is a consultative body of regulators dealing in telecommunications, broadcasting and postal sectors. CRASA is a merged regulatory association and the merger was between the regional Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) regulators’ association, formerly known as CRASA, and the postal regulators’ association, formerly known as the Southern Africa Postal Regulators’ Association (SAPRA). The merger between the two associations became effective on the 16th June 2011. The merger was a response to the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Ministers responsible for Telecommunications, Postal and Information Communications Technologies (ICTs) directive of June 2009 which stipulated the need to merge CRASA and SAPRA. The merger was to allow for maximisation of value and benefits of a converged policy and regulatory environment as well as strengthen the harmonisation of the Postal and ICT regulatory environment in the SADC region.
