First Meeting of the CRASA Postal Committee in the 2022-2023 Financial Year

The CRASAPostal Committee will be convening its first meeting of the 2022-2023 financial year from 29th June 2022, via video conference. The meeting will be preceded by a capacity-building workshop on “Evolutionary Postal Licensing Frameworks” on the 28th of June 2022.

The main purpose of the meeting is to kick-start the implementation of the Committee’s Operational Plan for the period 2022-2023 as approved by the 11th Annual General Meeting (AGM). In this regard, the Committee will consider, among other pertinent agenda items, the following matters:

·     The review and implementation of approved Postal RegulatoryGuidelines;

·     Implementation of Phase II of theCRASA-UPU Regional Quality of Service Project;

·     The ongoing development of SADC Postal Strategy 2022-2025; and

·     The development of the Postal Universal Service Obligation(USO) Cost Model.

The Postal Committee is one of the eight specialised committees of CRASA, whose key objectives include: facilitating the harmonisation of the postal regulatory frameworks within the SADC region, facilitating the exchange of ideas, views and experiences on all aspects of postal sector policy and regulation, as well as undertaking research that is relevant to the regulatory mandate of CRASAMembers insofar as the postal sector is concerned.

TheCommittee, which is chaired by Zimbabwe, has a total of twelve Members including:Angola (Vice chairperson), Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique,Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia. For more information, please contact Ms. Lebogang Kabomo at crasa@crasa.org
