Competition Assessment Framework for ICT Sector in SADC provided a regulatory framework for the promotion of fair competition and the protection against anti-competitive practices in the communications industry. The Guidelines also induces licensed operators to become more efficient to offer a greater choice of products and services. The Guidelines further ensures that licensed operators exercise market power with due regard to consumer welfare and overall industry performance and to prevent abuse of their market power. The Guidelines furthermore promotes sharing of essential facilities as well as promotes consumer protection in the communications sector.
