[16th June 2022] The Executive Secretary of the Communications Regulators’ Association of Southern Africa (CRASA), Mrs. Bridget Linzie, on the 1June 2022, paid a courtesy call on the Executive Secretary of the East African Communication Organisation (EACO), DrAlly Simba in Kigali, Rwanda.
The courtesy visit aimed at discussing the implementation plan of the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)between CRASA and EACO and to allow for effective collaboration in the efforts to achieve the harmonization of the ICT and Postal Regulatory environment of the two (2) regions. The two (2) parties also shared the ongoing work under their respective annual operational plans and identified common projects being implemented in the two regions.
About CRASA
CRASA is a Southern Africa consultative technical body with 13 Countries as members (Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe) focusing among several other things, on development of model regulations and harmonization of the ICT and Postal regulatory frameworks in order to improve the communications sector’s business environment and investment climate in SADC.
About EACO
EACO is a regional organization which brings together national ICT regulators and operators/service providers in the communication sector in the six (6) East African Countries and whose objective include to harmonise policy and regulatory frameworks in East Africa; to promote the development of broadcasting, postal and telecommunications/ICT services and regulatory matters; and devise ways and means to achieve fast, reliable, secure, affordable and efficient communications services within the East African Community (EAC).
