CRASA COURTESY CALL ON INCM CHAIRPERSON

On Friday, 26th July 2024, the CRASA Executive Secretary, Mrs. Bridget Mphatso Linzie, paid a courtesy visit to the new Chairperson of the Instituto Nacional das Comunicações de Moçambique (INCM), Mrs. Helena Fernandes. This visit took place during the same week that INCM hosted the CRASA Finance and Audit Committee (FAC) and Human Resource Development Committee (HRDC) meetings in Maputo, Mozambique.

This visit emphasized CRASA's dedication to fostering cooperative relationships and offering strategic support to its members. During the meeting, the INCM Chairperson stressed the importance of developing robust postal regulations in Mozambique. Acknowledging the vital role an efficient postal system plays in a nation’s socio-economic development, CRASA committed to assisting Mozambique in enhancing its postal regulatory framework.

Another key issue discussed was the improvement of disaster preparedness in Mozambique. Given the country’s vulnerability to natural disasters, a robust and responsive communication infrastructure is crucial. The CRASA ES assured the INCM Chairperson of CRASA's commitment to working closely with INCM to develop and implement strategies that ensure the resilience of communication networks during emergencies. This includes establishing rapid response protocols, integrating advanced technologies for disaster monitoring and management, and launching capacity-building initiatives to equip regulatory bodies including INCM with the necessary skills and knowledge.

The visit also presented an opportunity to discuss ways to enhance the operations and governance of CRASA itself. The Executive Secretary expressed appreciation for INCM's ongoing support and outlined several initiatives aimed at improving CRASA’s efficiency and effectiveness. These plans include capacity-building programs, enhanced member engagement strategies, and initiatives to foster greater collaboration among members. The INCM Chairperson reaffirmed their commitment to actively participate in these initiatives and contribute towards the collective goal of achieving regulatory excellence in the region.
