From 27–29 October 2025, the Communications Regulators’ Association of Southern Africa (CRASA) convened the 2nd Meeting of the Postal Committee (PC) for the 2025/26 financial year in Windhoek, Namibia. The event was graciously hosted by the Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN), bringing together postal sector representatives from Angola, Botswana, DRC, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
The meeting was officially opened by Ms. Ronel Le Grange, Technical Adviser to the CEO of CRAN, who delivered welcome remarks on behalf of the host authority. From the CRASA Secretariat, the Head of Postal, who also serves as Acting Executive Secretary, facilitated both the Validation Workshop and the committee sessions, steering discussions toward strengthening regional postal cooperation and resilience.
Preceding the Committee meeting was a Validation Workshop for the SADC Regional Postal Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Regulatory Framework, developed by consultant Mr. Bradley Partridge under the Universal Postal Union (UPU) Japan Fund. The Framework, the first of its kind in the region, provides regulatory guidance to enhance the postal sector’s resilience, preparedness, and continuity in the face of disasters and operational disruptions.
Throughout the three-day engagement, Member States reviewed progress on the implementation of the 2025/26 Postal Operational Plan and mapped the way forward for 2026/27, reaffirming their commitment to collaboration and harmonisation in the regional postal landscape.
CRASA extends its appreciation to CRAN for hosting the meeting and to Mr. Bradley Partridge for his contribution to the development of the DRM Framework. This initiative reflects CRASA’s ongoing commitment to fostering a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable postal ecosystem that supports regional integration and service continuity, even in times of crisis.
